Senator McConnell reminded us this week that to say “All lives matter” is a farce and that “Black lives matter!” must be stated, and repeated. Sen McConnell, in defending the Senate’s blocking of voting rights legislation wanted to cite “facts.” 1/4
McConnell said “if you look at the statistics, African American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans." This is hardly an innocent slip of the tongue. McConnell has proudly posed in the past, standing, with a smile, before a Confederate flag. 2/4
Racism is amok. White rioters stormed the Capitol a year ago and were allowed took selfies with cops. White supremacist groups, such as Oath Keepers, launched on April 19, 2009, in the wake of the election of our first Black president, Barack Obama, underscore the trend. 3/4
Attempts to white-wash of history so white children do not feel “uncomfortable” about aspects of American history, such as slavery, show that “truth” is hardly in the equation. History is and should be uncomfortable OR ELSE IT WILL BE REPEATED. 4/4
