More on Rev Micah Beckwith’s talks w/his supreme deity will be discussed on Civil Discourse Now tonight, Feb 1, at 7 pm, on FB. Beckwith has posted videos over the past couple of years in which he quotes conversations. God is whom Beckwith quotes. 1/7
Beckwith needs to ask if he can record those conversations. God apparently has a lot to say about MAGA ppl & their goals, e.g. (as quoted by Beckwith): “I sent those riots to Washington.” And “What you saw yesterday [01/06/21] was my hand at work.” 2/7
God shouldn’t have a problem w/at least being asked. The tech should be a cinch, after all. God is able to handle Bluetooth or whatever the “hands-free” stuff Beckwith has on his car. God needs 2 B heard, & not simply quoted by Beckwith, human and imperfect as he is. 3/7
E.g., Beckwith tries to protect those who are important to his church: “‘You’re not going to Brett Kavanaugh this one.’wrote Micah Beckwith to a woman raped by someone in his ministry.” This was a post on @INDprogressives. God probably expects the same protections. 4/7
God comes off, in Beckwith’s quotes and in MAGA rallies, as hateful & racist. Tonight, Feb 1 at 7 p.m., on Civil Discourse Now, our guest will be Rev. Dr. Sid Hall, a native of Kokomo, & a retired United Methodist and United Church of Christ pastor. 5/7
Sid served churches in IN & TX for 42 yrs, & is the author of 2 books, “Christian Antisemitism and Paul’s Theology” and “Three Mystics Walk Into A Tavern.” Sid is as an activist & has the honor of having been arrested w/Martin Luther King’s daughter & Gandhi’s grandson. 6/7
Beckwith could surreptitiously record the talk. God’s voice needs to be heard. Then again, the voice probably would sound a lot like Beckwith’s. I didn’t add “or a member of his church.” I think that’s a role Beckwith won’t cede. God is what he wants to play. 7/7
