MAGA rioters on Jan 6 had their chance to bear arms to fight "tyranny"

Gun culture advocates say the Second Amendment was written to protect an individual’s to own a gun as a way to stop tyranny. These same people usually say The Constitution must be strictly construed, with nothing read into it. For a moment, consider how tyranny would be fought. 1/4

Actually, we saw how the 2A would play out, on January 6, 2021. The mob that day even had a leader. So weigh, in one hand, is preservation of gun “rights” to arm people like the January 6 mob that stormed The Capitol. In the other hand are the deaths & daily fear they cause. 2/4

Do you feel more free because the MAGA shaman, as well as rioters who vandalized The Capitol did so while heavily armed? If the 2A was meant to fight tyranny (in their eyes) that was the day to do it, and they didn’t. But kids do active shooter drills. 3/4

As I always say, the first step against gun violence is: don’t own a gun. Next: confiscate the guns & melt them down. I’m Mark Small: pro-choice, pro environment, pro-civil rts & anti-gun GOP nominee for IN House Distr 86. I approve of this blog. Hell, I wrote it. 4/4

So you believe that someone who lives in a dangerous community, who has no criminal record whatsoever, should have no right to have a handgun in their home for personal protection? This position would mean that women who live alone would have no choice but to submit to being sexually assaulted rather than be able to protect themselves.   I know you like to stir the pot, but I can't believe you're actually serious.   A complete ban on gun ownership is a more extreme position than that held by any other American politician that I can think of.
