During yesterday’s IN Lt Gov nominees’ debate, Micah Beckwith [FN1] said, “I’m not a climate cultist. I believe that God is the one who has given us the climate.” [FN2] A reasonable followup, that no one asked, is what plan for climate has “God” told Beckwith about? 1/10
Indiana’s filthy waterways were mentioned. [FN3] Libertarian Tonya Hudson’s “free market” is a solution as ephemeral as Beckwith’s deity. Democratic nominee Terry Goodin sees 20 years of GOP rule as a problem. [FN4] As we return to Beckwith & his deity, I call bullshit. 2/10
1st: Beckwith quotes his deity w/o awe or even deference. In a 01/07/21 selfie video, Beckwith quotes “the Lord”: “I sent those riots to Washington. What you saw yesterday [01/06/21] was my hand at work.” 3/10
2nd: Beckwith, last fall, said: “Yeah. I didn’t say I liked it [] the Lord is doing and allowing ... people to do things like [] Jan 6. Now, I don't think it was an insurrection by any stretch of the imagination.” [FN5] Beckwith disagrees w/”God”’s description of Jan 6. 4/10
3rd: “God” implores Beckwith: “‘Micah, if you do not get involved in the political battle, they will warp and destroy everything that I have set up in this nation that is rooted in Judeo-Christian principles.’ Those principles go away, then our nation goes away.” [FN6] 5/10
W/Braun as Gov, a heartbeat away will be Lt Gov Beckwith who will use power beyond what the constitution & statutes give it. He has said he will go into classrooms to make sure “history” is taught. He cleans up good, likes the camera & video ads can normalize him. 6/10
Beckwith wants power. The tone & descriptions of his chats w/”God” seem to paint Beckwith as the superior of the two. Jan 6 wasn’t “an insurrection by any stretch of the imagination.” That was “God”’s imagination. So: what does “God” plan for climate change? 7/10

FN1. His party as an iteration of the GOP has no legitimate claim to being the “Party of Lincoln,” but has become a cult of a toxic personality, so I refer to it as “magaGOP.”
