Indiana abortion law stayed based on RFRA!

Indiana’s Court of Appeals got it right on Friday {FN1] & affirmed preliminary injunctive relief to stay enforcement of I.C. §16-34-2-1, Indiana’s version of the maga-driven anti-abortion law. [FN1] The decision is based on I.C. §34-13-9-1, et seq, Religious Freedom Restoration Act. 1/3

The decision was unanimous. Plaintiffs argued that their religious beliefs are violated when they are denied access to abortion. The decision, and a very strong concurring opinion, run 76 pages. I want to do more than skim it before I write more about it. Victory for now. 2/3
