Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

AR15s should receive far less commercial time than toilets

Machines built so well they last 100 years is a great idea for consumers, but not 4 manufacturers. If markets don’t exist, businesses die. U.S. gun makers might be ghoulish, but they make goods that live a long time. Estimated life of an AR-15 replaceable barrel is 20K rounds fired. 1/5

Someone who shoots that often knows how to switch barrels. Other people would have an AR15 for life. Gun culture ramps up desire for more guns. An Indy radio show host Saturday bragged about how great a recent show was. Even if AR-15s serve an acceptable purpose... 2/5

for a private individual, glorification of these guns is unacceptable. Toilets are important in daily life, but toilet ads don’t fawn over the products as do gun ads or have festival-like gun shows at tax supported venues. Guns live a long time & their makers must sell more guns or die. 3/5

Ads, gun shows & fear drive sales. We can regulate commercial speech. Centr Hudson v. PSC, 447 U.S. 557 (1980). We can reduce gun culture subsidies: require gun shows at tax-supported venues to post bonds = to possible liability. Guns killed 43,222 ppl in 2020. Commodes? 4/5

We should ban assault-style weapons & require owners have liability insurance & keep guns in safes. I’m Mark Small: pro-choice, pro-civil rts & anti-gun GOP candidate for Indiana House Distr 86. I approve of this blog. Hell, I wrote it. 5/5

If we require homeowners keep guns in "safes" (even if there are not children in the house?), then what's the purpose of having them in their homes?  Isn't the purpose of having a gun in one's home self defense?  So you think in case of emergency, people will have time to retrieve them from a safe?
