A story this morning on Importantville [FN1] discloses facts that should give intelligent & sane people more reasons to vote against the Republican Party ticket for Gov/Lt Gov. At first glance, one might feel hope: Micah Beckwith [FN2] is holding a fundraiser for her/himself. 1/10

Beckwith had a year to promote himself & won the party’s nomination for Lt Gov. S/he beat, by 67 votes, the pick named by Mike Braun, the party’s nominee for Gov. [FN3] For Beckwith now to raise funds only for her/himself, Beckwith voids her/his bladder in Braun’s visage. 2/10

Some might view discord amongst those on the far right as a plus. After all, as Napoleon is said to have commented: “When your opponents are killing each other, let them.” Braun has got to be a tad bit peeved. Braun’s lead on the ticket, but Beckwith’s getting more press. 3/10

It gets worse. Braun’s name is not on the invitation, but the names of IN’s State treasurer and State comptroller are. Also on the invitation is Jim Bopp, a Terre Haute lawyer who had said, in a June memo, that Beckwith poses a serious threat to Braun’s candidacy. [FN4] 4/10

Bopp was co-counsel for Citizens United at the District Court and signed off on corporate filings that gave this iteration of the IN GOP life. The thing that makes the charts for “worst”: “Some GOP insiders have speculated that he could primary Sen. Todd Young in 2028.” [FN5] 5/10

So we need to do our civic duty. Beckwith has opposed abortion w/o any exceptions. That is a position that is unconscionable and has resulted in women’s deaths. [FN6] It scares people away, who might want to work or attend college here. It kills people who might stay. 6/10

Beckwith’s attracted media attention. We have to slam shut the door to the State house. The vote for Gov/Lt Gov can’t be split. That’s it’s necessary to say: #BrainsNotBraun
