Tonight, Jan 4 at 7 pm, on Civil Discourse Now (on the Chateau de Mars Hill Facebook network right before “Mouthwash”) we) shall discuss January 6, populism and The Constitution, and how we can prevent another insurrection. My guest will be Dan Canon. 1/4
Dan Canon is a civil rights lawyer & a Professor of Law at the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law. He served as lead counsel for Kentucky plaintiffs in Obergefell v. Hodges, which established marriage equality in all 50 states. 2/4
Dan has been involved in many other high-profile cases. He writes on civil and criminal justice issues for a variety of regional and national publications. PLEADING OUT, his first book, is scheduled for release on March 8, 2022. 3/4
trump’s Jan 6 speech to the crowd that stormed The Capitol was bothersome, but also creepy. His repetition of phrases and paranoia reminded me of a famous Hoosier: Rev Jim Jones. I think a lot of the people since have chugged down that “denial” powdered beverage mix. 4/4
