Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

This iteration of the GOP, nihilism & the IN Lt Gov nominee

Ham County preacher Micah Beckwith’s [FN1] political rise is disturbing. [FN2] Beckwith gets emotionally agitated: he is disturbed. [FN3] In the late ‘70s, evangelicals [FN4] & leaders of the far right met on a blind date. The product of their union was nihilistic political power. 1/9

Sen Barry Goldwater (R-AZ) warned, “if & when these preachers get control of the [GOP], it's going to be a terrible damn problem.... Politics & governing demand compromise. [They] believe they are acting in the name of God,” so they can't/won't compromise. [FN5] 2/9

Goldwater also said: "Today's ‘conservatives’ don't even know what the word means. [A] woman has the right to an abortion.” That is “a decision up to the pregnant woman, not the Pope, or some do-gooders or the Religious Right. It's not a conservative issue at all." [FN6] 3/9

Beckwith tried for public office, but missed, placing 3rd in 2020's GOP primary for INCD5. Two later, he obtained public office, but by doing an end-run on voters. He was appointed to a seat on the HEPL board. [FN7] He had an opportunity for creds, if he wanted to move up. But... 4/9

Beckwith has not cited his position on HEPL’s board in his campaign promos, we can infer that fork in his career path did not work as Beckwith planned. As test pilots say, he screwed the pooch. He pushed a policy that wasted HEPL money & drew ridicule. When he quit, 5/9

Beckwith tried to save face & said he wanted to focus on his run for IN Lt Gov. Having messed up in the first public office he held, he could focus on obtaining another public office. Delegates at the State, many of whom Beckwith recruited to be delegates to vote for him. 6/9

Beckwith calls himself a Christian nationalist. He believes that Armageddon not only will happen, but must happen. He believes in the destruction of the World. Nothing could be more nihilistic. You are free to believe as you wish - unless your belief will kill us all. 7/9
