Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

There's no single, universal solution to gun violence

Gun deaths (45,222 killed in 2020) in this country, on one level, are a complex problem (43,222 in 2020/54% suicides). Universal background checks might not have worked in specific cases. Fire inspections don’t always work either. An element common to all gun deaths: guns. 1/5

A start to end gun deaths is not to own a gun. Some people buy a gun to defend the home, but an implied warranty of merchantability, that a thing is fit for the purpose for which it’s sold, exists by law in Indiana to protect the buyer & is to be construed liberally in buyer’s favor. 2/5

You have a right to know before you buy a gun if the gun is more likely to prevent or cause harm to you and your loved ones. But since the mid-1990s the CDC has been barred from sponsoring peer reviewed studies of gun violence as a health risk. NRA pays Congress for results. 3/5

Indiana’s universities have departments of epidemiology, the discipline for such studies. If the feds won’t do such studies, Indiana should. If elected to the Indiana House I’ll introduce acts to fund peer reviewed studies, by our universities, of gun violence. Otherwise: if Texas had 4/5

a 72-hour waiting period to buy a gun, kids in Uvalde at least would’ve had more time w/their parents. We’re sick of gun deaths. I’m Mark Small, pro-choice, pro environment, pro-civil rts & anti-gun GOP nominee for Indiana House Distr 86. I approve of this blog. Hell, I wrote it. 5/5
