The Framers of the Constitution created a government that was flawed. The greatest flaw was its protection of slavery. [FN1] As many as 25 of the delegates to the 1787 Philadelphia convention claimed ownership of human beings. [FN2] Only Civil War brought abolition. 1/10
Today millions of people will take to the streets across the United States, and around the globe, in “No Kings” protests as our country is being taken over by authoritarianism. Some stress that “labels” do not win over converts - i.e., stop calling magas “fascists.” 2/10
The magaGOP, aided by gutting of public education, use propaganda & gin up hatred for single-payer healthcare (“Socialized medicine!”), equal rights (“Reverse discrimination!”) and ease of voter access. (“Fraud!”) Let’s be clear. 3/10
Only magaGOP propaganda says that this country is “conservative” & that we should abandon, in the name of “victory,” issues the far right labels as “progressive” & people in groups that had gained protections. [FN3] Sorry, but fuck that. 4/10
The advanced nations of the World nearly all have some form of national health care that people here want. The notion that equal rights = reverse discrimination is a bullshit line from a 6-nutso majority on SCOTUS. The only election fraud has been committed by the GOP. 5/10
Leadership of the Democratic Party has fallen behind. They bought into the notion that trump won in 2024 as well as the line about this country being “conservative.” If today’s “No Kings” rallies today only oust corrupt, senile, delusional trump from the Oval Office ... 6/10
the policies will continue. Those who condoned or participated in Jan 6 cannot hold office & that includes federal judges. The Constitution as amended & protects everyone. Jimmy Morrison sang: “They got the guns, but we got the numbers.” [FN4] Be careful today. 7/10
