A lot is happening in the Universe—and in Marion County—this weekend.

   Tomorrow morning is the Mini-Marathon®. At about this time tomorrow I shall be in my "stall"—the term used for the roped-off section to which a person in the Mini® is assigned by seeding/time—probably shivering. Sarah is in the 5K. For whatever reason, someone in management of the events decided this year to start the 5K before the Mini®. That makes little sense. In the past, the Mini started, then the 5K was started and complete (the 5K is 3.1 miles compared to the Mini’s® 3.1 miles—before the end of the Mini®. Anyway, we shall stand there for an hour, waiting to begin what, for some of us, will be a four-hour walk.

   The weather is forecast as reaching a high of 81 degrees with 40% chance of storms, some severe. I have been lucky in that for the thirteen Minis® in which I have participated—my best year I came within an hour and thirty minutes of winning the whole damn thing—rain has not hit the race.

   People in the Mini®: blouse your shoes with plastic to keep the water out of them. Water in shoes can cause blisters. Unless you are a masochist (and, doing a half-marathon, that is a distinct possibility), you do not want blisters.

   If you have the opportunity, tune into this website during the race. You might be surprised at what you see.

   FINAL POINT: The negative ads in the Marion Superior Court judges race have started.

   During our Show, weekend before last, a person appeared and began to take photographs. I did not ask,"Who are you?" If a person wishes to take photographs for personal use, that’s cool. There is, after all, a First Amendment. Cameras had not been developed in the late 1700s, but I am confident the Framers would have included photography in the concept of free expression.

   Apparently, though, this was no person out taking photos for his own pleasure or for a journalistic endeavor. Maybe he was, and he just happened to hand over his shots to the people responsible for the negative mailers that came have yesterday against my co-host Paul Ogden and Judge Carol Orbison. The photo of Paul was taken when we were doing The Show.

   One of my foibles is that I often am outspoken. Those who have known me over the years—many years by this point—know that I am not shy about speaking my mind or saying who I am as I do so. So, in as civil a fashion as I can muster—

   TO THE GUTLESS BASTARD WHO CAME AND TOOK PHOTOS AT "CIVIL DISCOURSE NOW AND DID NOT HAVE THE DECENCY OR THE BALLS TO SAY HE WAS DOING SO FOR NEGATIVE ADS: CUTE. YOU HAVE A PROMISING FUTURE WITH "THE NATIONAL OBSERVER." UNFORTUNATELY—IN TERMS OF JUSTICE—IF YOU APPEAR IN FRONT OF EITHER OF THE "O" CANDIDATES, WHOM YOUR MASTERS SENT YOU OUT TO MALIGN (DID YOU REMOVE THE ORBISON SIGN A BLOCK AWAY, ON PRIVATE PROPERTY AT WESTFIELD AND 65^TH STREET?), THEY ARE PEOPLE WITH VALUES AND WILL TREAT YOU CONSISTENT WITH THEIR OATHS: IF THEY LEARN WHO YOU ARE (AND I THINK YOU WOULD IDENTIFY YOURSELF IN THAT CONTEXT), THEY WILL RECUSE THEMSELVES. LIKE I SAID—THEY HAVE VALUES.

   I shall vote in the Democratic Party primary, as that is the party of my affiliation.
