Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

People at NoKings 3.0 exercised 1A rights & couldn’t be scared by a gun nut

NoKings 3.0 w/a “Revolutionary-era call against” trump as would-be king “had the broadest geographic reach of any single-day protest” in the U.S. in more than a half-century. [FN1] “The flagship rally” at Minnesota’s State Capitol drew > 200k. [FN2] Total numbers 1/11

“might turn out to be the largest combined single-day protest in U.S. history.” [FN3] Protesters exercised rights protected by the 1st Amendment. [FN4] Political speech is afforded the greatest protections. [FN5] NoKings 3.0 protests were mostly peaceful. [FN6] 2/11

In Indianapolis, a man showed up w/an assault-style weapon. [FN7] No one can seriously claim he is advancing “liberty,” aside from his liberty to scare people by showing up at a rally of people who do not share his views. And that’s the only “liberty” advanced. 3/11

Gun nuts [FN7] such as the dude in Indy can’t: ask to see anyone’s ID, challenge them about their immigration status, or engage in meaningful dialogue w/someone w/whom they disagree about political issues. You don’t want to rile up someone holding “heat.” 4/11

My final word for now. A maga person said that people at election polls have no reason to fear [maga] people showing up w/firearms. After all, undocumented immigrants trying to vote are the people gun nuts are trying to scare, so if you’re not undocumented, no problem. 5/11

1) trump/maga claims about immigrants voting is a lie. [FN8] 2) Idiots w/guns at polls serve no legitimate function. 3) History shows the real purpose. Indiana’s KKK used the Horse Thieves Detective Association to show up at voting sites on election day. [FN9] 6/11

They were meant to scare people away from voting. Contrary to what the dude w/the AR on 3/28 believes, Antonin Scalia wrote that people don’t have a right “to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose.” [FN10] 7/11
