Tuesday, May 2, are primary elections. Indy voters can request a Democratic or Republican party ballot. I’m a candidate in the GOP primary for City-County Council District 2. Matt Hills is my opponent, but his mailers omit mention of party, unlike Brienne Delaney, also running for 1/5
District 2, who clearly notes her Democratic Party affiliation. District 2 is extremely “blue,” i.e., Democratic. Perhaps Mr Hills believes it better to mislead progressives so that in the general election in November, he’ll obtain votes from ppl who’d rather die than vote GOP. 2/5
Hills says “our neighborhoods safe” is his number 1 priority & mentions his ten years of service in the military. A militaristic approach to social issues never has worked, except for shareholders of defense contractors. Whatever “technology to better fight crime” exists has been tried. 3/5
We need decent & affordable housing as well as health care. Health care necessarily includes birth control and abortion. Leadership in the military is not necessarily good for municipal office. Indy can’t afford the Pentagon mind-set of open-ended budgets, and its clinging to the past 4/5
We need people who are better-educated to move here. That means we need progressives. I’m Mark Small: pro-civil rts, anti-gun, anti-TIF & pro-choice GOP candidate for City-County Council District 2. I approve of this message. Hell, I wrote it. 5/5
