Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

Indiana's Lt Gov has a lot of authority

Machiavelli would be disappointed w/Micah Beckwith. [FN1] Beckwith says he’s running for IN Lt Gov in the GOP, but state conventions, not primary voters, nominate Lt Gov & usually vote 4 the person party’s Gov nominee wants. Beckwith is telling ppl how to become delegates 1/8

to the GOP convention. Machiavelli usually is cited as an example of the worst aspects of pursuit of power as such set out in “The Prince.” [FN2] and, were he alive today, might nod in approval about Beckwith seeking nomination away from most voters, but also would be skeptical: 2/8

Beckwith did not bother to research the powers of the office he seeks, some of which should not be in Beckwith’s hands. Defense development [FN3], Military Base Planning Council [FN4], and Counterterrorism & Security Council. [FN5] are not places we should put advocates of 3/8

authoritarianism. We shouldn’t place xenophobes on the Comm’n for Hispanic & Latino Affairs. [FN6]. And it’s appalling to think of Beckwith’s name being on the same page as “State Convention concerning United States Constitutional Convention” [FN7] Beckwith touts 4/8

himself as “Constitutional conservative” who has expertise on The Constitution. He isn’t & doesn’t. Beckwith believes The Constitution was written & inspired by “God.” This past week I’ve explained that any such claims have no support. I use things called “citations” 5/8

that refer to specific events and documents from a concept known as “history.” Only if Beckwith quotes “God” from one of Beckwith’s conversations w/”God” can Beckwith refute any of my arguments. If Beckwith does that, we all have a right to audio. 6/8
