Two main factors in burglars’ choice of homes to target. 1) Not getting caught. 2) Stuff worth stealing. On first one, burglars generally don’t break into homes when people are home & that’s the only way your ownership of a handgun would work to protect your home. And on...1/4

the 2nd one, handguns R amongst the items most easily fenced. After all, if a burglar grabs a bag of jewels, s/he can’t walk into some place and buys things. The burglar has to find a place to pay for the item. Handguns are so easily sold as to be almost fungible. Peer-reviewed studies...2/4

of whether ownership of guns deters more crime than it causes would be nice, but CDC’s been blocked fr studies of gun violence as a health issue since mid-1990s. Whether guns “work,” i.e., prevent more harm than they cause. If the feds can’t sponsor such studies, Indiana should. 3/4
