GOP SCOTUS justices: corrupt for pay or because they enjoy it?

Sen Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) tweeted an MSNBC story about ethics conflicts of SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas, & asked: “How many billionaire benefactors does one judge need?” The question is legitimate & implies specific limits should be imposed. As usual for, 1/7

us liberals, the Senator overlooked very important prelim info. Is the judge in it for the money? Or, so maga ppl better understand, is the judge a sl*t or a wh*r*? (Vowels are $50 each.) The former is in it for fun while the latter is in it for pay. (See Random House Webster’s 2/7

Unabridged Dictionary, 2d ed., 2001, pp 1802, 2171.) Thomas, not born to wealth, benefitted fr Affirmative Action & cynicism of GOP leaders. We can’t jump to conclusions. He had fun on those vacays. Then look at Justice Kavanaugh whose hundreds of thousands of dollars 3/7

of debt “disappeared at least twice in his life, some unknown entity endowed him with major infusions of cash.” Mencimer, Mother Jones, 09/27/21. Ms Mencimer notes Kavanaugh “lied, under oath, about the provenance of that cash.” Put another way, Kavanaugh’s debt was 4/7

gone fast as the first upchuck at a hairy buff. Kavanaugh’s family was affluent, but that does not mean he was rich. Justice Amy Barrett’s story similarly is nuanced. As Vox noted (Oct 2020) Barrett’s title of “hand maid” in a religious club was coincidence. Even if the $425K 5/7

she received for a book deal wasn’t legit, that sum is far below the minimum going rate for lease of a SCOTUS justice. In her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she told some pretty big whoppers & was rewarded w/a lifetime appointment to the Court w/one 6/7

goal in mind: gut Roe v Wade. GOP justices on the Roberts Court make us ask difficult questions: Great taste or less filling? Sl*t or wh*r*? Dessert topping or floor polish? One thing’s for sure, these justices don’t deserve anyone’s respect. 7/7
