Amer Psych Assoc, 2013: In ‘93, New England J of Med (NEJM) published “Gun ownership as a risk factor for homicide in the home,” by Kellerman, et al, w/results of research funded by the CDC. The study found keeping a gun in the home strongly & independently associated 1/5
w/increased risk of homicide. The article concluded that rather than confer protection, guns kept in the home are associated with an increase in the risk of homicide by family member or intimate acquaintance. NRA’s response? Clamp down on studies funded by the CDC. 2/5
The right wing has not suggested any resolution to gun violence or, more accurately, gun carnage
except: buy more guns! That’s worked so well. As death tolls rise, the gun culture thrives. We need peer-reviewed studies about gun violence. It might be helpful to examine browser 3/5
histories of mass shooters. There might be web sites or pod casts they read or watch a lot. If the people responsible for the content of those sites are responsible and have consciences, they can pull content. If they’re sociopaths, they’ll keep feeding the gun culture. 4/5
They’re not selling guns just to make money. They love selling guns. I’m Mark Small: anti-gun, pro-choice, pro environment, pro-separation of church & State GOP candidate for Indiana House Distr 86. I approve of this blog. Hell, I wrote it. 5/5
