Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

Evangelicals in U.S. military are numerous enough that their gushing about “end times” should scare everyone

We haven’t declared war on Iran, [FN1] & were engaged in talks to resolve differences [FN2] but attacked Iran as “part of God’s plan” & trump was “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth.” [FN3] This is scary. 1/15

People who believe Earth’s destruction in a final bloody battle as “God’s” will should NOT be allowed to touch nuclear launch codes; “lawful discrimination [] against a member of a protected class [] is legally permitted for a valid purpose.” [FN4] [FN5] 2/15

Risk of physical harm validates bans on snake handling in worship. [FN6] A belief that “God” could bless initiation of nuke launches poses far wider harm than a snake bite. Beliefs about “Armageddon” amongst leaders in the military are specific & have one thing 3/15

“in freaking common [] unrestricted euphoria ... as to how this new ‘biblically-sanctioned’ war is clearly the undeniable sign of the expeditious approach of the fundamentalist Christian ‘End Times’ as vividly described in the New Testament Book of Revelation.” [FN7] 4/15

MRFF [FN8] received > 110 complaints, from every branch of the military, last weekend re: commanders invoked “2nd coming” & Armageddon re: U.S. attack on Iran. [FN9] Beliefs about “end times” are protected by the 1st Amendment. Acting on those beliefs is not. 5/15

Today’s “Christian nationalists” a/k/a evangelicals a/k/a fundamentalists a/k/a born-agains have bragged about the “final days” & how they will go to a heaven w/streets of gold. They try to duck those claims as they get closer to that power. 6/15

In the 2024 election cycle, several Christian nationalists took issue when I said because they say that Armageddon is “good,” they are nihilists. [FN10] “No one said Armageddon is good…it’s prophesied in God’s word.” Their “God” is not good explains a lot. 7/15

Hal Lindsey made millions, from his bogus claim that Revelation is a book of prophecy, and had “a suite of offices in a posh Santa Monica high-rise for the personal management firm that sinks his royalties into long-term real estate investments.” [FN11] 8/15

We need to remove from access to nuclear launch codes anyone who circulated emails or had meetings gushing about our attacks on Iran. “Dr. Strangelove” & its Brig Gen Jack D Ripper are fictional. So is their Revelation. Our nukes are quite real. 9/15
