With a nod & a wink they assure you. Christians stick together, right? They’re Christians. If you don’t believe it, ask them. They get your vote. Then you find out they don’t believe you really are a Christian. You “sprinkle” instead of fully immersing for baptism. Or you worship statutes. 1/6
The Framers of The Constitution wanted to separate church & State, not because of any beliefs but Christianity. A lot of people in Europe died because of The Reformation, in which Christians killed each other. Oppression by evangelicals is in full swing. Sen Goldwater said of them: 2/6
“if & when these preachers get control of the [GOP] it's going to be a terrible damn problem. [They] frighten me. Politics & governing demand compromise. [T]hese Christians believe they act in the name of God, so they can't & won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal w/them.” 3/6
What is next? The Roberts Court, like Taney’s, is not hung up on precedent or consistency. If rights are universal, expect to see crap about fetuses being people so that States no longer will be able to allow abortions to be legal. We also got a hint of things to come from the concurrence. 4/6
Marriage equality, rights for LGBTQ people & contraceptives will get the axe. So: register to vote, run for an office (esp one that involves counting the votes. This iteration of the GOP relies on cheating to gain office. We can’t let them continue). Evangelicals’ theological forebears 5/6
held political power in The Dark Ages. Remember: don’t vote for GOP candidates who back trump/think this SCOTUS is peachy-keen. I’m Mark Small: pro-choice, pro environment, pro-science & GOP candidate for IN House Distr 86. I approve of this blog. Hell, I wrote it. 6/6
