Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

Yesterday, the DePauw University football team won the Monon Bell for the fourth consecutive year, 41-20. Since at least 1999 I have watched the game streamed live at the “official” Indy site, Broad Ripple Tavern. (It’s extremely annoying when one repeats a garish 41-20 score.) 1/6

DePauw’s website has a logo for the game on the University’s website. Some people might not realize there actually is a bell for a traveling trophy. The Monon Bell, kept for the fourth year in a row by DePauw, 41-20 victors, is from a locomotive that ran through the two towns. 2/6

DePauw’s website listed places where the game, which ended with a final score of 41-20, could be watched. Unfortunately, neither Peoria, Illinois nor Peoria, Arizona was listed. DePauw’s team is pretty good and I did not want to miss the game, which DePauw won 41-20. 3/6

On an off chance, I checked the Wabash website. The Monon Bell game, won by DPU 41-20, was streamed at a pizza place in Peoria. About a dozen Wabash alums, & their spouses or significant others & kids, made me, the only DePauw person there, feel welcome. 4/6

No one took DePauw’s racking up scores (41 points) personally. I held in check the impulse to ask why their school had inflicted Braun and Rokita on our world. I hope that my alma mater will allow DePauw (41-20 winners) to host or co-host a game site next year. 5/6

To be fair, I did not wear DePauw attire. Oh, I wore a DePauw jacket, but I had to keep warm. Oops, almost forgot about the DePauw t-shirt over a “Wabash Sucks” t-shirt. And I wore my DePauw socks. Did I mention that we kept the Bell by winning 41-20? 6/6
