Before we beat ourselves up over how to resolve the problems our country faces nine months into a 2nd trump/maga [FN1] term in the Oval Office, we need to realize:
trump/maga doesn’t want to resolve the problems we face. That’s why they do nothing. 1/10
They hold: Oval Office, House & Senate, & a 6 lick-spittle super-majority on SCOTUS to rubber-stamp what they do. Legislation? The big bullshit bill has been a failure. Anything else? Dictatorial decrees (a/k/a Executive Orders) are no more successful. 2/10
They don’t want to resolve problems they did so much to either create or expand.
They want us focused on 2026's elections while they work now to subvert 2026's elections if they allow elections at all. They’re setting up trump 2028... 3/10
Steve Bannon: there are ways around Amendment XXII [FN2] so that trump can run for a third term. [FN3] trump’s last SCOTUS nominee, who was shoved through the Senate & up our Nation’s ass, gave her stead-fast, liberty-loving opinion when asked 4/10
if the 22nd Amendment’s two-term restriction made the matter cut-and-dried, Amy Barrett replied: “‘Well, you know, that’s what the amendment says, right? You know, after FDR had four terms, that’s what that amendment says,’ she concluded.” [FN4] magaGOP 5/10
must rig or stop the 2026 elections, else the Constitution will be enforced and the efforts for magaGOP to gain absolute power derailed. When I read about the VIP suites in that new White House ballroom, I wondered if each will have its own balcony, like in.. 6/10
“Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith” and the many balconies with a view as Palpatine solidifies power. Unfortunately, we’re not in a movie. And the AI taking jobs aren’t kindly like R2D2 and magaGOP wants to secure its goddamn power. 7/10
Footnotes:
FN1. This iteration of the GOP courts racists and embraces Christian nationalists. It is not “the party of Lincoln,” nor doess its leader have any legitimate claim as heir of that political lineage. I use “maga” in place of “GOP” or “Republican Party” and “trump” for 47. 8/10
FN2. Amend. XXII, sec. 1, begins: “No person shall be elevated to the office of the President more than twice...”
