Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

One way to "resolve" the crisis we face is NOT to call an Art V convention

Sen Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) said today that a “third term”in office for trump is clearly forbidden by the Constitution. [FN1] She explained that even if a convention is called under Article V and a “new” Constitution is written, still there are steps that must be taken to ratify it. 1/6

There will be no further steps taken and the “new” Constitution that only a fool would think is not already written by people at the Heritage Foundation. Because once called to order, such a convention has no limits. That’s according to Judge Robert Bork, whom Reagan 2/6

nominated for the Supreme Court, but the Senate voted against. Bork pointed to the original 1787 Convention that went well beyond the scope of the resolution that authorized the calling of it. to support his opinion . We all need to realize that a plausible excuse to ignore the law is 3/6

all that the Roberts Court requires. Sen Klobuchar, and others who share her views on this need to understand that the law mean little to SCOTUS now. An Article V convention would be awash in money from individuals, corporation & foreign powers who are, according to 4/6

the horrendous decision in Citizens United, can claim a right to be anonymous. That’s how bad this all is. Even if Congress limits the scope of the convention THAT MEANS NOTHING. The 1787 convention had limits placed on it by Congress. Those limits are illusory. 5/6

Footnotes:
FN1. Amend. XXII, sec. 1 begins: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term ... shall be elected ... more than once.” 6/6
