By exec order [FN1], trump seeks “to ensure alignment w/the President’s directive to celebrate American exceptionalism, remove divisive or partisan narratives, and restore confidence in our shared cultural institutions.” [FN2] trump is telling museums what can’t be displayed. 1/6
We study history is to avoid repeating it. [FN3] trump lies to say the past was good for everyone. The maga just nod & follow along. This lie is most notable when rights are at issue, the rights are at the critical to our republic & struggles to secure them were most intense. 2/6
Equal protection, the right to vote and civil rights are fundamental. To allow the past to be white washed means our country will be restored to those times. The Secretary of Defense reposted an interview of an Idaho preacher who backs ending women’s right to vote. [FN4] 3/6
Before anyone says SecDef walked back that support: You aren’t allowed to duck it like Barrett, the last nominee shoe-horned onto SCOTUS by McConnell. If you tell museums to lie, their messages no longer tell history. Same as if you had to cheat to win, you didn’t win. 4/6
