Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

trump has ended free speech & is a baby king

Random thoughts about our nation’s absurdity-fueled trajectory in light of the latest. trump [FN1] has mused he can strip “home grown” criminals of citizenship and deport them to El Salvador, [FN2] but “these would just be ‘violent people.’” [FN3] Some discuss law 1/8

in trump’s nascent monarchy, like we are under rule of law. [FN4] At SOTU: “‘Thank you again. Thank you again,’ he says to [Chief Justice] Roberts....slaps him on the shoulder and says, ‘Won’t forget it.’ The moment has an almost classic mob boss feel to it in context.” [FN5] 2/8

trump said it was thanks for swearing in trump. Right! Sure! As trump deports “violent people,” trump will define & apply “violent people” as he wishes. People should read history. As part of the sentence native-born Hoosier Eugene Debs received for conviction under the 3/8

Sedition Act of 1918, Debs was divested of his citizenship. In 1920, Pres Harding commuted the sentence & Debs’s citizenship was restored. [FN6] Some might say, “The statute was repealed!”
Sorry to inform you, but trump is a dictator. 4/8

Footnotes:
FN1. It is difficult to refer to trump in terms of respect since he hacked the 2024 elections, holds power at the whim of Putin and is killing this country. Lower case of the last name (“trump”) will have to do. I was going to abbreviate Ass Hole, but “AH” would confuse things. 5/8
