I was about 11 years old & saw The Harlem Globetrotters play in Kokomo [FN1] against their only opponents. [FN2] The game was an exhibition, w/no season on the line. The same as pro wrestling, the athletes had to be in great shape, playing > 400 games per year. [FN3] 1/12
By contrast, we can look at sham contests, such as the golf tournament trump won at one of his golf courses last weekend. “He’s never won a championship at a course he doesn’t own and operate.[&] wins when anybody who disagrees [] he won is out of the club.” [FN4] 2/12

As our republic careens toward doom, a maga podcast host boasts that lefties refuse to appear on his show. He implies maga people are smarter. However, maga volk emulate their leader. They yell so opponents can’t be heard. Debate is different & some rules are basic. 3/12

Each side speaks w/o interruption. In basketball, each side gets the ball. An inbound pass might be stolen by the other team, but the other team does not get to sit in the stands and be abusive. Yesterday, I related my attempted interaction w/maga podcaster Kevin Smith, who 4/12

says he is “Founder of The Loud Majority. Populist Republican. Host of Loud Majority.” [FN5] One may reasonably infer Smith wants to yell idiocies & otherwise not allow a leftie guest to be heard. [FN6] Debates provide a medium to discuss issues, and that’s important now. 5/12

Some say we must compromise w/maga and the far right. Huh? That means ceding half of the playing field before we reach the stadium. We have a would-be dictator placed in office by the dictator of Russia who mourned the fall of the Soviet Union. [FN7] 6/12

At stake is the future of our country. In books about the 3rd Reich, no mention is made of any debates between anyone and der Fuehrer, who throve on lies.[FN8] We need real dialogue and debate. Each day more people see trump as the liar he is. Time is running out. 7/12
