NOTE: The following was a reply I posted this morning on a social media platform. I feel compelled to post it on my blog. Page breaks occur to fit on other social media platforms:
"I don't know what everyone else was watching. I thought this speech will be regarded as the kind of event that, years from now, people will regard in the same way as remembering what they were doing when they heard JFK was assassinated or the space shuttle Challenger blew up, or ... 1/7
the Cubs blew that Game 5 in the 1984 playoffs to San Diego. Nobody else, I infer, was shocked when trump said, "I am a sociopath, but the doctors at Walter Reed said I test out as the most sociopathic personality they've ever encountered. 2/7
My score on the empathy thing: baby-puppy-people floating in the water after we blew up their boat. I said 'kill 'em all;.' After my father died and no longer could I depend upon him to bail me out, and I'd run out of banks to borrow from, I had to turn to Russia. When I stole that office, Putin about shit. 3/7
I've given Russia's security services open access to our Department of Defense computers. They've even got our nuclear launch codes. They said my acts of treason are the most damaging of any in history. I even beat Benedict Arnold. 4/7
Hell, we weren't even a country then. So he couldn't have committed treason. This speech you are watching was taped. I'm in Air Force One, high over the Atlantic, where I've been granted asylum by my buddy Vlad. I can't apologize. 5/7
Hey, I'm a fucking sociopath, maybe the most successful sociopath in history. So I say 'good night.' Hey - do you remember where you were when that cat ran out on the field at Shea in 1969 and ran circles around that stupid fuck Cubs 3rd baseman? It's all a matter of perspective." 6/7
[NOTE: this was an attempt at humor in these shitty times and no animals, real or metaphorical, were harmed in its writing] oh, and [NOTE 2: asylum granted in the Atlantic only would be okay for aquamann] 7/7
