Ways to repair damage done by trump & magaGOP

The Constitution states how to change our structure of government. [FN1] Gerrymandering to create artificial majorities in the House of Representatives and the “electoral college” [FN2] is not listed. People want to know how to stop the maga/trump takeover. 1/18

On 10/21/25, Greg Olear [FN3] offered a solution. [FN4] A lot of replies were to the effect of “Finally! Someone’s talking about solutions.” We can disagree on specifics of how to reverse damage of trump & magaGOP, & even use parts of some ideas. [FN5] 2/18

What follows here, in no particular order, are ideas about possible solutions & pitfalls that could preclude solutions. In addition to years of study and research of our history, I litigated election cases, including challenges to the validity of the 2016 election. [FN6] 3/18

1) Political parties are central to the problem. The Framers [FN7] loathed factions, i.e., political parties. [FN8] The magaGOP [FN9] has committed or been complicit in insurrection or rebellion, and treason. [FN10] Also, each State has a “branch” of the national party. 4/18

Some State parties are corporate entities separate from nat’l counterparts & pose a threat to any change. The Indiana [FN11] Republican Party is a “d/b/a” of the Indiana Republican State Committee, Inc., created 10/24/05, when Articles of Incorporation were filed 5/18

by Terre Haute IN , attorney James Bopp, Jr., who has served on the RNC [FN12] and was an attorney in the District Court in Citizens United. [FN13] As a future Minnesota Governor said, “He’s dug in like an Alabama tick.” [FN14] Here are the problems. 6/18

1: Ways to participate in, and even take over a political party, should be available to the public, but IN’s GOP is averse to a takeover like its current rulers effectuated back in the day. Its Rules are available online, but not its bylaws, [FN15] where choice of leaders is set out. 7/18

2: The plural form - “parties” - is used to describe the problem. In Indiana, election laws give special status to “two major” political parties “whose nominees received” the highest & 2nd highest numbers of votes “for secretary of state in the last election.” [FN16] 8/18

Illinois confers bennies on an “established political party” whose candidate for Gov drew over five percent (5%) of the vote for Gov in the last election. [FN17] Indiana’s 2 “major political parties” wrote the laws that confer favored status on parties ... well, like them. 9/18

We should loathe the specter of a “Party of No.” We should have complete access to rules & bylaws of all political parties. Look at your State’s election laws & party rules to make sure Bopp isn’t dug in like an Alabama tick. Later: “3rd parties.” 10/18
