Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

The word "media" is the plural form of "medium"

The future is not here yet. However, we can try to to anticipate changes.

The word "media" is the plural form of "medium." I am annoyed when I hear someone say "the media is..." or otherwise employ the noun "media" with the singular form of a verb.

This is not simply a matter of grammar. When people talk about "the media," the implication is a monolith, a giant glob that rolls through our days and devours as it spins untruths a/k/a lies. "The media" takes on an awesome nature, a single thing we cannot fight against as mere mortals.

To look at the media as comprised of separate, although often overlapping, parts, the forces behind mass communications, if not less daunting, at least are more understandable and less fearsome.

A big part of the "media" of the last two centuries has been the daily newspaper. Some of us grew up with a daily newspaper as a part of our lives and relied, to some extent, for our understanding of the World through the stories in its pages.

On today's Show we shall discuss the "newsroom of the future." Guest panelists will be Dan Carpenter---he insisted we remove the purple M & Ms from his guest snacks---and Richard Sullivan.

Also, Kimann Schultz will provide "Fashion News and Muse"---a weekly segment to which I always look forward. Also, Tyler Rayl will give us his view on sports.
