Texas has demonstrated the racism is alive. In June its governor signed into law a prohibition against Critical Race Theory (“CRT”), a view that racism “is embedded in our society and legal systems to uphold supremacy of white persons.”
Of course our Nation’s history is steeped in racism. Slavery was protected by The Constitution. Only in 1954 did the Supreme Court rule that “separate” was inherently “unequal.” The Texas Senate has passed S.B. 3 that drops some requirements for school curricula.
One passage dropped: “the history of white supremacy, included but not limited to the institution of slavery, the eugenics movement, and the Ku Klux Klan ... is morally wrong.” Added was a prohibition against requiring “an understanding of the 1619 Project.”
These actions by Republican politicians in the Longhorn State clearly are racist. People need to register to vote, make sure they vote, and make sure we vote people such as these, whether here in Indiana or any other State, out of office.
We need to nullify the effects of gerrymandering and voter suppression. We also need to make sure our votes, together, count more than the minority of racists who live in every, including the Hoosier, State. .
