Of several quotes from yesterday, the scariest, from trump was about one of two “N-words” that he cannot use. “We were a little bit threatened by Russia recently, and I sent a submarine, nuclear submarine, the most lethal weapon ever made ... you can’t detect it. There’s no way.... 1/5
We’re 25 years ahead of Russia and China in submarines.” [FN1] That a dumbass like trump has access to nuclear codes makes his current (& illegal) occupancy in the Oval Office quite scary. In times past, what the threat of global incineration means was understood. During the 2/5
Cuban Missile Crisis, in 1962, Pres Kennedy took to heart Barbara Tuchman’s ‘The Guns of August,’ the Pulitzer-winning account of Europe blundering into WW1. JFK vowed he would not make the same mistakes. [FN2] trump seems to want a war here in the U.S. 3/5
We should be prepared to respond if military leaders take action to remove from office people who owe their jobs to a foreign dictator. We should look to people in Brazil, Korea, Ukraine & other countries that stopped dictators by removing the dictators from power. 4/5
