Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

Indiana's 5th Congressional District race: Saturday, April 21, at 11 a.m.

Our guests on Saturday’s Show will be Democratic candidates for the 5th Congressional District. I will post their info tomorrow.

On the Republican side, David McIntosh is a candidate who embraces some of the same stands as our most recent Republican president—George W. Bush. McIntosh would lower taxes and eliminate regulations. That approach did extremely well under George W. Bush—if you are a venture capitalist, manager of a hedge fund, or overseas investor. McIntosh also believes in so-called "Right to Work" legislation. That is a statutory effort that does not turn out well for the States that have adopted it. Overall, wages decrease and quality of life worsens. McIntosh believes the healthcare reform pushed by the Republicans in 1994 and adopted as what is now called "Obamacare" should be repealed.

McIntosh has residency issues to face. He was not out of the State of Indiana these past years on government business for citizens of the State of Indiana—unless one includes acting as a lobbyist within that category of jobs.

One item I did not see listed on his web site was an issue stand on "defense." Presumably Department of Defense expenditures would be as sacrosanct for McIntosh in Congress if he is elected from the Fifth as they were when he served three terms from 1995-2001. He left Congress to run for Governor, but was defeated by Frank O’Bannon. He stayed in Washington after that, and returns now to run again to represent Hoosiers.

Join us on Saturday morning at 11—we now stream "live"—as we discuss what could be one of the more interesting Congressional campaigns, in the State and possibly the country, this November. We shoot at Big Hat Books, 6510 Cornell Avenue in Broad Ripple.
