IN Gov Mike Braun has demonstrated he can ignore the best interests of Hoosiers as well as any career hacks. Braun jumped when the current occupant of the Oval Office demanded IN redraw Congressional districts. People effectively disenfranchised in part (Dems) [FN1] 1/14
were to be fully disenfranchised. [FN2] IN’s poor face crises in housing. The General Assembly made being homeless a criminal offense. [FN3] Braun held up, a la trump, that bill after he signed it into law. [FN4] Things could be worse. As Indiana’s Lt Gov, 2/14
Micah Beckwith is not a “heartbeat away” from being Gov, since Braun seems to lack a heart. Beckwith is “only a flat-line away. ”: if the Governor dies in office, “the Lieutenant Governor shall become Governor” & serve out the 2 years of Braun’s unexpired term. [FN5] 3/14
How in the living hell could anyone be worse than Braun? Beckwith is a maga cuck & supports the vile policies that Stephen Miller imagines & trump utters. Beckwith, a preacher, is peachy-keen w/being called “Christian” nationalist. [FN6] That belief has been linked 4/14
w/advocacy of hatred. [FN7] Beckwith advocates hatred [FN8] & has been a topic of rumors the last few days, saying he’ll seek re-election. It doesn’t work like that. The R & D parties choose candidates for Gov in the primary. IN Lt Gov is the Gov’s running mate 5/14
is picked at the State convention. R’s “in good standing” who are “primary qualified” file to be on the 2028 primary ballot in their County. The system disqualifies > 80% of voters from seeking to run in a primary, but it withstood a challenge before IN’s Supreme Court. [FN9] 6/14
In 2023, Beckwith began recruiting people to run to be delegates and pitched himself to delegates he’d not recruited so he’d have 908 of the 1,814 delegates. [FN10] Not all of the delegates are selected by the voters (of course). Party leaders get to fill slots. In 2024, Braun 7/14
seemed to believe that since he’d won the primary for Gov, he’d pick his running mate. Instead, on 6/15/24, Indiana’s gop convention nominated Beckwith, 891 to 828. To be renominated in 2028, Beckwith has to recruit delegates. You can be sure he’s aware of that. 8/14
Those who want to stop Beckwith from returning as Lt Gov need to be aware that he’s already lining up delegates. Until the laws are changed, people need to run to be delegates at the 2028 convention. Yeah, there needs to be a change of the laws. 9/14
