There are differences in these three lives. How each died can be interesting for conversation. Each engaged in self-promotion. At the core of their beliefs, one can argue with a reasonable amount of support, the only differences are nuances. 1/10
The first: held a high position in government. He, and his boss, took joy when those beneath him suggested he was a monster. The nicknames made him chuckle. His actions had a great impact after what he launched at Wannsee. 2/10
The second: lacked a wide following & had little notoriety, despite his efforts at PR. He was interviewed in Playboy & that was spiffy. Probably more people saw a parody of him (by Henry Gibson) than saw the real him anyplace else. Then there’s Charlie Kirk, 3/10
Reinhard Heydrich chaired January 1942's Wannsee conference where the genocide of millions of Jews was given an almost industrial organization. Called the butcher of Prague, he answered only to Hitler, Hermann Goering, and Heinrich Himmler, head of the S.S. 4/10
George Lincoln Rockwell founded & headed the American Nazi Party & smoked a pipe (re: Henry Gibson in “The Blues Brothers”). He was honorably discharged fr the Navy [FN1] in 1960 for being a Nazi. Hatred was central to Heydrich’s and Rockwell’s worlds. 5/10
They were anti-semitic. Hell, they self-identified as Nazis. The NSDAP’s racism is difficult to miss in the 1936 Berlin Olympics and the formal corporal’s reaction to Jesse Owens’s four gold medals as a Black man from the USA. Rockwell was virulently racist. [FN2] 6/10
Charlie Kirk was a racist, [FN3] a misogynist, a homophobe & other pejoratives. He also was anti-semitic. [FN4] Flags, at least of the USA, should not be at half-mast for a person who fomented hate. Kirk was shot as he spoke about sacrifices for the 2nd Amendment. 7/10
Czech partisans threw a bomb into Heydrich’s car in 1942. He was okay at first. Then Himmler substituted his own personal physician and Heydrich was soon dead. Rockwell was shot at the laundromat by a former fellow Nazi: so much dirty laundry. 8/10
Footnotes:
FN1. Our - the United States - Navy, not der Kriegsmarine.
FN2. He was “active” against people who fought for their civil rights.
FN3. His comments about Joy Reid and Michelle Obama are despicable. That’s only the surface of his bigotry. 9/10
FN4. E.g., “Kirk blamed ‘Jewish dollars’ for funding ‘Cultural Marxist ideas.’ Jewish Currents: ‘Cultural Marxism’ is an antisemitic trope” purporting Jewish ppl are attempting to “‘undermine trad’l American values.’” Salem Media Group, The Charlie Kirk Show, 11/7/23. 10/10
