Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

Hello to my new neighbors, old friends & the world

A move can be daunting, especially when you know only one person there. Undergrad, over 50 years ago, was one such prior experience for me, but nearly all the first years [FN1] at DePauw were in the same boat, so we were not alone, plus we were 18 & resilient. 1/7

Over ten years ago, I blogged about my diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (“MS”). That turned out to be an erroneous diagnosis. I’m not bitter, as I hope you’ll learn from these posts. A dynamic of those blogs is race walking, an activity I took up to dealing w/my situation. 2/7

I still race walk, but not as training for an annual half-marathon that I describe. It’s part of what I do & helps explain to my new neighbors why I’m up at an absurdly early hour, chugging right along down Main Street or up Union hill. Also, to be more amenable to 3/7

Bluesky and Twitter/X, I am re-formatting the blogs. I also shall try to correct typos, remove some individuals from the narrative, & create a new work. [FN2] I hope this gives folks I’ve recently met here a better understanding of who I am. 4/7

Finally, should anyone else find these blogs helpful in general, that’s cool. I’m very political, but in these times I thought a description of overcoming life’s challenges would be not inappropriately upbeat. 5/7

Footnotes:
FN1. How we designated class (“freshman,” “sophomore,” etc,) has been replaced by “first year,” “second year,” etc. I’ll use the new nomenclature reflect changing norms & for accuracy. Two-and-a-half of my favorite years at DePauw were as a sophomore. 6/7

FN2. These blogs should be considered copyrighted & are derived from posts that appeared in March to May, 2012; April to May 2013, and May jumping to September 2015. 7/7
