Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

Contrary to claims of the far right, this country was not founded as a Christian country Part I

After 236 years, our Republic might die. If you think we cannot survive such extreme differences, you should read our history. Hamilton said all communities are divided between the many (who make bad decisions) & the few (rich and well born) [FN1] who should run things 1/10

because they cannot receive any advantage. [FN2] He did not foresee “the few” so craving greater power & wealth that they are blind to the country’s best interests. Finally, in 1787, hanging over the heads of the Framers [FN3] was one issue that inherently drove people to extremes. 2/10

Slavery was the issue the Framers tried to shove aside, but it would not go away. Because we refuse to study history, vestiges of slavery rstill haunt us. A political contagion struck Indiana in the 1920s & is called Christian nationalism, white supremacy & Christofascism 3/10

Then it was the KKK. It is racism draped in a flag with a cross at the top of the standard. IN’s Lt Gov Beckwith is an adherent of these beliefs. Beckwith lies about our history to inject it w/Jesus and lies about religion to make it fit w/a right-wing, racist political ideology. 4/10

In 1925, estimates of Hoosiers who were dues paying “Kluxers” ran as high as 500,000. [FN4] The KKK elected the Governor & seemed ready to spread from Indiana, its members fed lies about American history and told to worship a deity that favored white Protestants. 5/10

However, the KKK did not spread from Indiana. Its leader was convicted of homicide of a woman who worked in the Statehouse.
History of this country’s founding is not as depicted by the far-right. I want to look at the founding documents & events around them 6/10

I want to show what the founding documents actually say & to make a record. Books are being banned. Public records are being scrubbed. The Framers did not create a Christian country. Please join me on a journey through our founding. 7/10

I hope you will agree w/ me that representations that our country was founded as a Christian country are false, that the people who make the claims know they are false & they seek others to believe them to their detriment. 8/10
