“America was absolutely founded on Christian values. You have to be ignorant to think otherwise. The writings of our Framers and the founding documents are very clear on that.” [FN1]
1) Blatant ambiguity (“Christian values” undercuts a conclusion that
2) is not supported by the facts. 1/11
IN’s Lt Gov says only Christians can be moral.[FN2] He & “maga” demean those of us who embrace “wokeness.” Neither Beckwith nor his maga buddies can claim our “woke” values as “Christian.” To dispel any notion that I’m a mamby-pamby lefty: fuck them. 2/11
We should be careful about relevant documents. The National Archives lists three “founding documents.” [FN3] Congress added The Federalist. [FN4] Historians who study events, such as the Constitution, rely upon “primary sources.”[FN5] I try to footnote my blogs. 3/11
One document gives perspective as to what could have been included in a constitution: “[To] secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity invoking the favor and guidance of Almighty God ...” Jesus isn’t there, but the three-fifths rule is. [FN6] 4/11
Jesus Christ is not in: resolutions in Congress for committees to draft the Declaration or Articles of Confederation [FN7], the resulting documents, the Feb 21, 1787, resolution calling for the Philadelphia convention [FN8], the Constitution, the Federalist or the Bill of Rights. 5/11
That Beckwith can say founding of this country “on Christian values” is “very clear” is the usual bullshit Beckwith, et al, toss around. They read into text things that never were there, as they demand rights of anyone else be spelled out specifically is an exercise of, well... 6/11
Beckwith’s “Christian values.” Please stick around for this series. Free speech might soon be a thing of the past. Then again, maybe miracles are possible. The Pacers just made the NBA Finals. wtf!? 7/11

This blog is part of a series that challenges the assertion of IN Lt Gov Micah Beckwith that this country was founded as “Christian.” These blogs are written to preserve a record as we watch the far right act to kill this country.
