Where the far left and far right overlap for fun and enlightenment

Overturn the Constitution for what, foreign control?

Only foreign-controlled corporations and billionaires will write a “new” constitution should the “Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States” (U.S. Const., Art V) “call a Convention.” trump most recently primed the American people for such a convention.

First: a Convention, once called, has no limits. Chief Justice Burger: “there is no effective way to limit or muzzle the actions of a Const’l Convention.” Judge Robt Bork: “a ... convention could not be limited to a single issue.” The 1787 Philadelphia Convention is our only precedent.

In 1787 Congr called a convention “for the sole purpose of revising the articles of Confederation and reporting to Congress and the several legislatures such alterations therein as shall appear ... Necessary to render the const’n of the Fed Gov’t adequate to the exigencies of the Union.”

The 1787 Convention went beyond this charter. Patrick Henry was chosen, but refused, to be a delegate because he “smelt a rat”—i.e., he thought the Convention would go beyond its authority & discard entirely the Articles of Confederation. Today foreign capital would dominate.

Corporations & their money have rights since the Citizens United case. Money can be laundered. All this is being pressed by a minority, led by one who once swore to “Preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” U.S. Const. Art. II, sec. 1.

Not sure why people on the far left of the political spectrum (that would be you) and people on the far right of the political spectrum make the exact same argument regarding the option to amend the Constitution via a Constitutional Convention.  (This option isn't anathema to the Constitution but is actually an option that the Founding FATHERS purposefully wrote into the Constitution).  Any amendment proposed by the Constitutional Convention would still have to be approved by 3/4 of the states to be effective.  You know how hard it is to get 3/4 of state legislatures to agree to an amendment?  It's only happened 17 times in our nation's 235 year history.  (Not counting the Bill of Rights which were adopted by ratifying conventions).  Crazy proposals are never going to get the 3/4 approval needed to become part of our Constitution.  You're worried about NOTHING.
