At 7 on January 11, 7 pm, my guests will be Jennifer Christie and Matt Hook. We shall discuss the environment and issues related to it. In particular we shall discuss global climate change as caused by people. 1/6

Climate change, drinking Old Style(r) in Berwyn with a Chihuahua, and plumbing on submarines.

   “What’s your dog’s name?”

The Chihuahua lapped up beer from a bowl on the bar. Beer is not good for dogs, but the dog’s owner looked as testy as his pet. I was disinclined to criticize. Also, the bar was a few doors down from a place into which I recently had moved. I was a stranger to the regulars there. I always would be, as it turned out, but that is beside the point.

“His name’s Tojo,” the man, who looked to be in his late 60s, replied.

   “Are you a veteran of…

Human beings have screwed up the environment and thus are produced giant storms.

In the 1960s, scientists debated whether the Earth---our home, in orbit around a run-of-the mill star we call the Sun---would cool down or heat up as a result of pollution.

Each side had facts in common upon which they relied. "Greenhouse gases"---primarily gases that resulted from human-made pollution---act to reflect light and heat. The scientists on the "cool" side theorized pollution would prevent penetration of sunlight and heat through the atmosphere and we would end up…

Paul Ogden is misguided on the topic of global climate change.

Our first day of orientation of law school, in August, 1986, Paul Ogden, who was the president of the Student Bar Association, spoke to our class and welcomed us to the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis. He seemed like a nice enough person.

Later in the year, Paul talked me into taking the job of editor of the school's newspaper, "Dictum." Whatever ulterior motives he had in that move never were revealed. The hours I spent on the journalistic endeavor played a part,…

Suggestions for "real" policy changes in the U.S. or "If I were King of the Forest".

Here are some solutions to the problems of our economy and society today. Label me or pigeonhole me as you will (or already have).

   1) Re-re-distribute the wealth in this country. In 1981, the president-who-shall-remain-nameless (or you-know-who) set about crushing unions and giving greater consideration to CEOs than line-workers and, thus, gutted the middle class. Money was taken from those who earned it and palmed off to those who inherited it. The lower the socioeconomic class…

Reasons other than belief in world climate change exist for policies to avoid fossil fuels.

Yesterday, March 7, was quite warm for this time of year in Indiana. I wore a t-shirt outside part of the afternoon. The wind was brisk, but the sky was clear.

The weather of one day, taken alone, is not indicative of world climate change. The weather of one year, taken by itself, is not indicative of world climate change.

"Climate change" is short-hand, today, for the discussion about whether humans have caused, principally through their of fossil fuels, significant…
