In the Weimar Republic, the NSDAP had gone from a far-right fringe party that pulled > 30% of votes in Reichstag elections. [FN1] On January 30, 1933, Adolf Hitler became Chancellor. [FN2] The Weimar Republic died. Eventually tens of millions also died. 1/7

In the U.S., on 1/20/25, trump has promised he will be a dictator. In 2024, he “made more than 100 threats to investigate, prosecute, imprison or [] punish his perceived enemies.” [FN3] The oath of office requires trump to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.” [FN4] 2/7
“As Germany plunged deeper into the Depression, growing numbers” of citizens” saw in “the Nazi Party a possible way out of the situation.” [FN5] Germany was in actual economic chaos. At present, the U.S. economy’s chaos exists only in the future after trump. [FN6] 3/7
